Rewardful Alternatives for Indie SaaS Founders (2026): 5 Cheaper Options
Rewardful is the best-known referral platform for Stripe-based SaaS — but at $49/mo with revenue caps + 9% commission cuts on cheaper tiers, it's overkill for indie founders shipping their first $5k/mo MRR. Here are five honest alternatives.
Rewardful built a great product. They were Stripe-native before that was cool, they have a clean API, and their dashboard is genuinely polished. If you're a $50k+/mo MRR SaaS with a serious referral program, you should probably just pay them and move on.
But for the rest of us — indie founders, vibe-coded apps, side-project SaaS — Rewardful's pricing has slowly drifted upmarket. The "Starter" plan caps you at $7,500/mo in attributed revenue, the next tier jumps to $99, and the commission-on-commissions cut on the lower tier (~9%) is a stealth tax most people miss when comparing. This guide covers five alternatives that are genuinely cheaper or more indie-friendly.
Full disclosure: AffRef is the tool we make. We'll be honest about where it doesn't fit; the other four are real competitors we're not affiliated with.
Why people leave Rewardful
- The revenue cap on the cheapest plan. $49/mo "Starter" stops being available once you hit $7,500/mo in attributed referral revenue. Then you're on $99 minimum. For a SaaS doing $15k MRR with 30% from affiliates, the jump is mandatory.
- The 9% commissions-on-commissions fee. Easy to miss in the pricing page. On the Starter plan, Rewardful keeps 9% of whatever you pay your affiliates. At any meaningful scale this is more than the subscription itself.
- Feature gating. Multi-currency, custom domain, and zero-revshare pricing all sit at higher tiers ($149+/mo).
If those things don't bother you, Rewardful is fine. If they do, here are the alternatives worth a real look.

Pricing as of October 2026. Check each vendor's pricing page before signing up — these change.
1. AffRef ($49/mo flat, ours)
Disclosure up front: this is what we make. $49–$249/month flat. Zero transaction fees. Zero commission-on-commissions on any tier. First-party tracking on your domain (survives Safari ITP). Stripe-native, plus Lemon Squeezy, RevenueCat mobile, and Shopify in the same tool. Branded affiliate portals on every plan.
For indie / vibe-coded / side-project SaaS at any stage — pre-revenue building the channel, $5k MRR validating, or $100k+ MRR scaling — AffRef is the right call. Same product surface across every tier; no upsell wall on tracking quality or portal branding. Our Next.js integration guide shows the 30-minute setup.
Honest caveats: we're younger than Rewardful and FirstPromoter, so the long-tail integration list is smaller (no SSO yet, fewer Zapier triggers). We don't run an affiliate marketplace — by design — so the affiliates you recruit stay your list rather than getting aggregated into a network. For the standard indie-SaaS case, AffRef covers what you'll actually use; if you have a hard requirement for a specific niche integration, check the integrations page first.
2. FirstPromoter ($49/mo)
The most direct Rewardful competitor. Same Stripe-native pattern, similar feature set, no commissions-on-commissions on any plan. Catches: their lower tier caps at 250 affiliates, upgrade jumps to $129/mo Business, and the Shopify / Lemon Squeezy / mobile coverage AffRef ships at $99 Pro isn't there at all.
3. Tolt ($29/mo)
Newer entrant with the lowest entry price in the category. Free tier up to a small affiliate count. Stripe-only. Smaller team than the older platforms; the affiliate-portal UI feels basic compared to AffRef and Rewardful, and the integration ecosystem is narrower.
4. Tapfiliate ($89/mo)
More general-purpose: supports Stripe, Shopify, Recurly, Chargebee, custom integrations. Setup is more configuration-heavy than Stripe-first tools. Cheaper tiers retain a transaction fee; branded portal gates to $149 Pro Customization. For multi-platform SaaS, AffRef covers Stripe + Shopify + Lemon Squeezy + mobile in one flat tier instead.
5. PartnerStack (enterprise B2B)
Different category entirely. PartnerStack is for B2B SaaS with channel partners — agencies, consultants, resellers — rather than individual affiliates promoting on social. Custom-priced via sales calls. Worth knowing it exists; not the right tool for an indie creator-affiliate program.
How to pick
- Default answer for indie / vibe-coded / side-project SaaS at any stage: AffRef. Flat-rate, no caps, no marketplace, no commission-on-commission, Stripe + Shopify + Lemon Squeezy + mobile in one tool.
- Pure Stripe and never plan to add another revenue surface: AffRef Starter covers this cleanly. FirstPromoter works too if you specifically want a Stripe-only product and don't care about the rest.
- Adding Shopify or a mobile app next to your SaaS: AffRef — the only option on this list that covers all three.
- B2B with channel partners (not individual affiliates): PartnerStack — different category, talk to them.
