Setup is one webhook URL

Forget integrating an SDK or writing custom conversion handlers. The Stripe Billing path is literally three things:

Add the tracking script to your landing page <head>. Captures ?ref= from affiliate links into a first-party cookie.
Add one webhook in Stripe pointing at AffRef. Subscribe to customer.subscription.created, invoice.payment_succeeded, customer.subscription.deleted, charge.refunded.
Pass the affiliate code on checkout — either as Stripe's client_reference_id, as subscription metadata, or by applying the affiliate's coupon. Any of the three works.

That's it. Every new subscription, renewal, and refund flows through automatically. Recurring commissions accrue. Refunds reverse. The dashboard updates in real time. No code on the AffRef side.

Why a flat fee matters as you scale

Some affiliate tools charge a percentage of every commission paid out. That sounds harmless at $1k/month in affiliate revenue. At $50k/month, it's painful: a 9% cut on a $5k commission is $450 out of your pocket, every month, forever, for software you already pay for.

AffRef is flat. Your affiliate program could 100x and your AffRef bill doesn't budge. The cost of running your affiliate program scales with brands and seats, not revenue.

Things SaaS founders actually ask

Does it handle trials?

Yes. Subscribe to both customer.subscription.created (records a pending conversion when the trial starts) and invoice.payment_succeeded (promotes it to approved when they actually pay). The affiliate sees "Pending" during the trial and "Approved" after the first charge.

What about refunds and cancellations?

Subscribe to charge.refunded — refunds auto-reverse the commission. Cancellations stop the recurring stream from that point but don't claw back prior commissions (you can configure that per program if you want to).

Can I pay affiliates a percentage of MRR forever?

Yes — leave the recurring duration cap blank and we'll fire a commission on every renewal indefinitely. Or cap at 12, 24, lifetime. Set the default at the brand level; override per affiliate.

Does the affiliate portal handle their tax forms?

Affiliates can upload W-8/W-9 status through their portal. We don't file 1099s for you — that's your obligation — but we surface the data so your accountant can.

What if I have multiple SaaS products under one account?

Pro covers 3 brands, Scale covers 5. Each brand has its own affiliate portal, branding, terms, and commission structure. Same login.

Can affiliates use coupon codes instead of links?

Yes. Each affiliate gets a unique link AND can be assigned a unique coupon code. We attribute via either — useful for podcast sponsorships where you want listeners to use "JOSH20" instead of clicking a link.

How long does setup actually take?

Under 10 minutes if you're on Stripe Billing: paste the webhook URL into Stripe, paste the signing secret back into AffRef, add the tracking script to your landing page. Done. The setup wizard walks through it.
