We'll tell you where Refersion and GoAffPro win against us, where we win against them, and where it's basically a tie. By the end you should be able to figure out which one is right for your store.

The honest 1-line summary of each
- AffRef — flat-rate, first-party tracking by default, your affiliate list stays yours. Built for every stage from first affiliate to enterprise — no upsell wall, no transaction fees, no marketplace siphoning your customer list into competitor offers.
- GoAffPro — cheap entry tier with feature breadth that's grown over the years. The trade-off is older tracking infrastructure (Shopify cart attributes) and a UI that's been around since 2017.
- Refersion — the enterprise-priced option. Marketplace adds revenue for Refersion (they aggregate affiliates across merchants); for you it means the affiliates you import can see competing offers immediately.
Pricing in depth
This is where the three diverge most sharply, so worth spelling out the actual maths at three different revenue tiers:
| Monthly affiliate revenue | GoAffPro Premium | Refersion Pro Plus | AffRef Pro |
|---|---|---|---|
| $5,000/mo | $29 | $249 + $75 fee = $324 | $99 |
| $25,000/mo | $29 | $249 + $375 fee = $624 | $99 |
| $100,000/mo | $29 | $249 + $1,500 fee = $1,749 | $99 |
Refersion's 1.5% fee is on attributed affiliate revenue. GoAffPro Premium and AffRef Pro have no transaction fee.
GoAffPro is the unambiguous price winner at every tier. AffRef costs more than GoAffPro at the bottom but stays flat all the way up. Refersion costs the most at every tier — and the gap widens dramatically with revenue.
Tracking quality
All three platforms record clicks and conversions on Shopify. The differences are in how robust the attribution is when browsers fight back:
- GoAffPro: primarily uses Shopify cart attributes for attribution. Works well within Shopify's checkout flow. Reports of Safari ITP causing attribution loss on multi-day buying cycles.
- Refersion: hybrid approach with their own tracking infrastructure. Has been adding first-party support, but their docs suggest mixed handling — third-party fallbacks still exist.
- AffRef: first-party by default. Cookies on your store's domain, localStorage and sessionStorage redundancy, Shopify cart attribute injection, server-side webhook fallback. Full technical breakdown here.
For brands where Safari traffic is meaningful (which is everyone running ecommerce in 2026), the attribution differences compound. Even a 10-15% lift in captured conversions can pay for the platform several times over.
Where each one genuinely wins
GoAffPro wins on:
- Lowest entry cost. The free tier is genuinely usable, and the $29 premium tier covers almost everything most stores need.
- Feature breadth at low cost. MLM tiers, automatic payouts integration, custom rules — all reachable on the Premium plan.
- Long track record. They've been around since 2017 and have ironed out the edge cases.
Refersion's pitch:
- Affiliate marketplace. Their network of 100k+ affiliates can apply to your offer — but those same affiliates can also apply to your direct competitors through the same dashboard, and Refersion sees everyone you bring in.
- Enterprise feature depth at enterprise price ($249+/mo plus 1.5% of attributed revenue).
- Years of cross-merchant fraud-pattern data, which is real but only relevant once you're handling enough volume for organized fraud to find you.
GoAffPro's pitch:
- Free tier and a $29 paid tier that covers basic feature breadth.
- MLM/multi-tier commissions if that's a core part of your model.
- Long-running platform, so the edge cases are mapped.
AffRef wins on:
- Flat-rate predictability across every revenue tier. $99/mo at $5k attributed and $99/mo at $100k attributed — no surprise scaling.
- First-party tracking by default. Survives Safari ITP, Firefox ETP, and Chrome Privacy Sandbox without configuration.
- All major email services (Klaviyo, Mailchimp, Omnisend, Customer.io, Loops, Resend) on every tier. No upsell wall on the integrations most ecommerce brands actually want.
- Your affiliate list stays yours. No marketplace, no aggregator — the people you recruit don't see competing offers through us.
- Built in 2025 with the same product surface for every plan. Brand-new merchants get the same tracking, reporting, and portal as enterprise.
The decision tree
Starting out and want a real affiliate program — not just a coupon-code generator: AffRef. Same platform every paying merchant gets, no feature-gated upsell, and your first affiliate gets the same first-party tracking as enterprise stores. Tracking accuracy matters more at the beginning, not less — early conversions are the ones you need to capture cleanly to know what's working.
Growing past $5k/month attributed: stay on AffRef. Flat rate means the bill that worked at $5k still works at $100k — no transaction-fee tax on growth.
Considering Refersion specifically for the marketplace: think twice about it. The marketplace adds applications, but every affiliate you import is visible to Refersion and to competing offers on the platform. If you've built a customer list worth turning into affiliates, you don't want to hand it to a network whose business model is re-pitching them to other merchants.
What's not in any of these tools
A few categories none of the three handle well — useful to know before you make a decision:
- Actual money movement. None of them pay your affiliates for you. They track what's owed; you handle the payouts via PayPal/Wise/bank transfer.
- Tax forms. If you owe a 1099 to a US affiliate who earned $600+, that's on you. None of the platforms generate the form.
- Multi-currency at the lower tiers. All three support multi-currency, but typically at higher tiers. If you sell internationally, factor in the upgrade cost.
- Cross-device attribution. Nobody really solves this — it's a fundamental limitation of cookie-based tracking. The best you can do is encourage your affiliates to push coupon codes for cross-device buyers.
