How to Export CSV from FirstPromoter

Walkthrough of FirstPromoter's CSV exports — promoters, leads, sales, and commissions — with column reference and the cleanup work you'll do before using the data elsewhere.

FirstPromoter calls affiliates “promoters” and tracks four data sets you can export: promoters, leads (signed-up referrals), sales (paid conversions), and commissions. Each is its own download.

This guide walks through where each export lives, what columns it gives you, and the things to watch out for when you import the data into another platform or your own reporting setup.

Where to find each export

  • Promoters exportPromoters page. Action menu (top-right of the table) typically includes an “Export to CSV” option. Outputs one row per promoter with their referral code, contact info, commission tier, and lifetime stats.
  • Leads exportLeads page. People who signed up via a referral link but haven't paid yet. One row per lead with the source promoter, signup date, and email.
  • Sales exportSales page. Paid conversions. One row per transaction with order/subscription ID, promoter, amount, MRR (if subscription), commission, and status.
  • Commissions exportCommissions page. One row per commission line. For recurring SaaS this expands to one row per renewal payment.

If FirstPromoter's UI labels have shifted since this guide was written, look for a download icon or “Export” button on each of those four pages.

Promoters export: columns you'll get

  • Name / Email — identity columns.
  • Referral code / Cust ID / Link slug — what the promoter uses in ?fpr= or ?ref= links.
  • Campaign / Program — which FirstPromoter campaign they belong to.
  • Status — Active / Inactive / Banned.
  • Commission tier / rate — the rate they're paid at.
  • PayPal email / Payment details — payout target (may differ from login email).
  • Created at — signup timestamp.
  • Lifetime metrics — visits, signups, sales, MRR, paid commissions. Snapshot at export time.

Common gotchas

  • Campaign-scoped commissions. A promoter who belongs to multiple campaigns may have different rates per campaign. If FirstPromoter exports one row per promoter, the rate column only reflects one campaign — you may need to cross-reference the campaign settings to get the full picture.
  • MRR-attributed lifetime totals. The lifetime “sales” column for SaaS programs is typically the sum of MRR-attributed amount, not gross revenue. If you're moving the data to a non-SaaS-aware platform, this distinction may matter.
  • Excel mangles long IDs. Same warning as every other CSV tool: open in a text editor or import directly, don't round-trip through Excel.

Sales export columns

  • Sale ID / Transaction ID — reference back to your billing system.
  • Promoter code / email — attributed promoter.
  • Customer email — the person who converted.
  • Amount / Currency — the sale value.
  • Commission amount — what's owed to the promoter.
  • Status — Approved / Pending / Cancelled / Refunded.
  • Created at — sale timestamp.
  • Recurring — boolean: is this a SaaS renewal or a one-time sale?

Commissions export

The commissions export has one row per commission entry. For recurring SaaS programs, a single sale with a 12-month recurring commission window produces 12 rows here, one per renewal. Useful for accounting reconciliation, less useful for migration.

What to do with the export

  • Migrate to another platform. Most modern affiliate tools accept FirstPromoter's shape with minor column mapping. Recurring-commission programs need careful handling — see our SaaS-side FirstPromoter / Rewardful / AffRef comparison for what each handles.
  • External BI / reporting. The sales + commissions exports together let you build cohort analysis (e.g. promoter LTV) that FirstPromoter's UI doesn't expose.
  • Backup before commission-rule changes. If you're about to bulk-edit commission tiers, take exports of promoters + sales first.
  • Custom payout calculations. Build tiered bonus math (e.g. 30% standard, 40% if MRR > $1k) in a spreadsheet on top of the sales export.

FAQs

Can I filter the export by date range?

For sales, leads, and commissions, yes — apply the filter on the page first, then export. Promoters typically export as all-time.

Does FirstPromoter expose the same data via API?

Yes. The FirstPromoter API can return all of the above as JSON, which gives you better control over field selection and can be automated. If you need recurring exports, the API path is cleaner than scripting a browser session.

What if promoters are missing from my export?

Check the campaign filter at the top of the Promoters page — the export reflects whatever filter is currently applied. Set the filter to “All campaigns” to get every promoter.

How do I handle pending commissions before switching?

Pay them out from FirstPromoter before you migrate — otherwise you risk double-paying when the new platform tracks future conversions and FirstPromoter releases the same pending commission later.
