The Best Shopify Affiliate Apps Under $50/Month (2026)

Five Shopify affiliate apps you can actually run a real program on for under $50/month — including two that are genuinely free. Honest look at what each is good for and the hidden costs that don't show up on the pricing page.

If your Shopify store is doing under $50k/month in affiliate-driven revenue, you have no business paying enterprise prices for affiliate software. Refersion's $249/month plus 1.5% transaction fee is built for brands with eight-figure GMV. Below that, there are five solid options that cost less than dinner out.

This guide is the cheapest-tier counterpart to our broader Refersion alternatives post. Same general ecosystem, but specifically filtered to apps where the entry price (or the realistic price you'll actually pay) is below $50/month.

The 5 apps at a glance

App Realistic monthly cost Transaction fee Free tier?
Shopify Collabs $0 0% on direct affiliate sales Yes (full)
GoAffPro $0 — $29 0% Yes (with branding)
UpPromote $0 — $29 0% Yes (with branding)
AffRef $49 0% Free trial
Refersion Starter $89 (over $50) Limited features No

Pricing as of September 2026. Verify on each vendor's site — pricing pages move. Refersion's $89 Starter is included for comparison but technically over $50; the real "under $50" set is the top four.

Full disclosure: AffRef is the tool we make. We're listing it first because at $49/month flat with no transaction fees, no marketplace siphoning your customer list, and first-party tracking on every plan, it's the answer for almost every Shopify store running an affiliate program — including brand-new programs. The other apps below are real competitors with real trade-offs.

AffRef ($49/month flat, ours)

$49/month for Starter (one store, unlimited affiliates), $99/month Pro (two stores, multi-currency, auto-approve, advanced reporting), $249/month Enterprise (ten stores, tiered commissions, REST API access). Zero transaction fees on any tier. First-party tracking that survives Safari ITP. Quick Shopify setup — one tracking script plus three webhooks, no developer required.

Why it works for first-time programs: same tracking engine and portal as enterprise plans — no feature gating, no upsell wall. Tracking accuracy matters most at the start, when you're trying to figure out which channels work; you don't want a free tier that loses 15% of conversions to Safari ITP and skews your decisions.

Why it works at scale: flat rate. $49 at $5k/mo attributed, $49 at $100k/mo attributed. Percentage-fee competitors charge multiples of that once you grow.

Your list stays yours: we don't run an affiliate marketplace. The affiliates you recruit (existing customers, niche creators, newsletter operators) don't see competing offers through us, and we don't aggregate their data into a network the way Refersion or Shopify Collabs Network do.

Honest caveats: we're younger than GoAffPro/UpPromote, so the integration ecosystem (Klaviyo, Mailchimp, etc.) is more focused but less broad. Klaviyo is supported; some niche tools aren't yet. 7-day free trial.

GoAffPro (free tier or $29/month)

Long-running Shopify-native affiliate app. The free tier covers basics — links, codes, payouts tracking. The $29 Premium tier removes GoAffPro branding from the affiliate portal and adds MLM tiers, advanced fraud rules, custom domains, and per-product commissions.

Trade-offs: the free tier puts "Powered by GoAffPro" on the affiliate portal your top affiliates log into — a small trust hit when your most professional partners are evaluating you. Attribution leans on Shopify cart attributes, which is known to lose conversions on multi-day buying cycles where Safari ITP wipes the session. UI feels dated compared to newer apps. Pricing climbs sharply above $29 once you need API access or recurring commissions ($99+ tier).

UpPromote (free tier or $25/month)

Direct competitor to GoAffPro. Free tier with branding; paid tiers from $25/month for "Grow Affiliate" up to $199/month for "Enterprise." Slightly more polished UI than GoAffPro. Leans into influencer programs (creator outreach tools, product seeding workflows).

Trade-offs: similar branding constraints to GoAffPro on the free tier. Some advanced features (MLM, tiered commissions) require higher tiers. Dashboard performance reportedly degrades once you have thousands of affiliates.

Shopify Collabs (free, native)

Shopify's own affiliate-and-creator tool, baked into the Shopify admin. Costs nothing to use with your own affiliates. Optional access to the "Shopify Collabs Network" — a marketplace where creators can apply to your brand (and to every other brand on the network).

Trade-offs: commission structures are basic — flat % per affiliate, no tiers or product-level overrides. Reporting is shallow. Affiliate portal is not customisable — affiliates see Shopify's UI, not your brand. The Collabs Network is another marketplace with the same data-aggregation issue as Refersion's: every affiliate you invite is visible to Shopify (and through the network, to other merchants' offers).

Refersion Starter ($89/month — for context)

Over $50 so it doesn't fit this post's filter, but worth noting. Refersion's entry plan removes some features (advanced reporting, API access) and has lower affiliate-count caps than higher tiers. Still includes the 1.5% transaction fee on attributed revenue.

The honest read: on price alone every other option on this list beats it. The pitch for Refersion is the marketplace — but the marketplace is also why your affiliate list becomes Refersion's asset, not yours.

Hidden costs to watch

"$0/month" doesn't always mean $0/month. Five things that aren't on the pricing page:

  • Branding on the affiliate portal. Free tiers usually show "Powered by [Platform]" on the page your affiliates log into. For your most professional affiliates, that's a small but real trust hit. The fix is paid tier.
  • Custom domain. If you want your affiliate portal at partners.yourstore.com rather than yourstore.goaffpro.com, that's often a higher tier.
  • Affiliate count limits. Some free tiers cap you at 50 or 100 affiliates. Once you cross that, you're upgraded automatically.
  • Recurring commissions (for subscriptions). Often paywalled to a higher tier on most platforms.
  • Setup support. Most cheap tiers offer email-only support with multi-day response times. If you need help during initial setup, factor in your own time.

Where to go from here

For most Shopify brands, AffRef at $49/month is the default — flat-rate, no transaction fees, first-party tracking that holds up under Safari/Firefox/Brave, and no marketplace that re-pitches your affiliates to competitors. Same product surface for a first-time program and a $100k/month one.

If software cost is the absolute hard constraint (sub-$1k/month attributed revenue, just running a test), GoAffPro's free tier will at least let you ship something — accept the "Powered by GoAffPro" branding on your affiliate portal and the older tracking stack, and revisit when the program is producing.

Our setup guide covers the steps regardless of platform. If you're trying to pick a commission rate before you start, our benchmarks post has typical ranges by category.
